The process of developing this Workshop is an experience of the Inner Master wiping away any platitudes ensnaring my consciousness in a superficial Awareness of Gratitude’s value.
Yes, Gratitude certainly is a social grace; at the deepest levels, it is a mystical teaching about your Essential Nature and the Nature of God. Gratitude opens a Spiritual Treasure Chest of Abundance and Plenty.
I’m also realizing the incredible transformational—even revelational—power of Gratitude. It is truly an express elevator up from the sorrows, negativity, lack, self-victimization, and suffering of the ego’s false narratives to the consciousness of your True Self—the Penthouse of Joy and Abundance.
It is a portal to the Wisdom of the Heart and to perceiving your life experiences and journey through Soul-Centered eyes. Even the most difficult Earth School curriculum can be illuminated—seen as a gift bringing profound Healing, transformation, and revelation when viewed through the lens of Gratitude. You can truly see yourself and all of life’s experience through the eyes of the Inner Master. The Spirit of Gratitude has been very present within me during these days following the amazing transformational arc and Golden Glory of the Forgiveness in Four-Part Harmony Workshop.
I awakened this morning remembering the simple prayers of Gratitude I learned as a young child—a Grace before meals and a bedtime prayer. Memories too of my darling Mother helping me even as a five-year-old to write thank you notes to my grandmothers for gifts received or visits to my Grandma Holverson's home in northern Illinois.
I grew up in northern Wisconsin close to the shores of Lake Superior. Winters were arctic bringing howling winds and blizzards followed by the Joy of “snow days” from school… making angels in the snow… tobogganing... Awe and Wonder at snowdrifts taller than I was… cozy snowsuits and a favorite little red hat I loved wearing when I took our puppy for her morning walk around the block… And always to be remembered—the extraordinary Beauty… Mystery… and Magic of the aurora borealis—northern Lights revealing their Radiant Splendor!!
These outings were often followed by homemade chocolate chip cookies and a warm cup of cocoa. Sometimes a favorite dessert called Cherry Magic! Our home was cozy—warmed by the hearth of the Heart—the Spirit of Love. My parents lived in Gratitude and though there wasn’t a great deal materially… What was of Essence was present in Abundance. I am Eternally Grateful for their Infinite Love and support—and their Trust in Spirit.
My father’s dying words to me were “I LOVE you,” said from his Soul. The strength of the transmission echoes in my Heart these many years later. Years before (Ron and I were already many chapters into the USM story) when we were walking together taking in the Beauty of the Shakespeare Garden on the Northwestern University campus in Evanston, Illinois, my father took my hand and said, “I always knew you would do good things… I didn’t know you would do great things…”
He affirmed the Goodness within me—Loving and supporting me no matter what. As the French proverb states: “Gratitude is the memory of the Heart.” I am deeply Grateful for my Father's Knowing of me… and his Trust in me.
